* 2007 Standings Event # 7 sees a familiar face finish on top
05/05/07 - Saturday night brought out 22 Vettes for some drag racing action. Mother Nature decided to cooperate with us and gave us clear skies and comfortable temperatures all night. We welcomed three new faces to our ranks last night, Mike Theofel of Boca with his C6, Mike Kaiser of Hollywood driving a beautiful new Z06 and Mike Cordani and his C6.

First round action saw an upset when Mark Schroeder and his yellow Z took out our Mrs. Consistent Georgia Dobbs. Round one also saw two top ten points' competitors lining it up for battle, Stephen Davis and Joe Gutierrez. Once again Steve took the round by his skills on the long end of the track. Alan Slaney returned to Moroso sporting his newly installed 402, but Charlie Bosco ended his night early by treeing the rusty Slaney. Another race among two top racers saw John Peters beat Doug Masters to move on to the second round. Other racers moving on included Dino Ramirez, Richard Mortell, Jamie Jamison, Jeff Brohman, K-Man Ramirez, Robert Stevenson and Mike Cordani.
Round two started with John Peters getting the free pass to the next round with a bye run. Red lights gave early exits to Keith Ramirez and Robert Stevenson sending Steve Davis and Mike Cordani into the third round. Richard Mortell and his silver C4 gave Mark Schroeder a gift by breaking out, although Mark was running very well. Jeff Brohman evened up his record against Chuck Bosco when the "Chuckster" Cindy Brady'ed at the light (green does mean go). Two Wiley veterans Dino Ramirez and Jamie Jamison were paired up for the rounds most anticipated race. Dino prevailed by a slight advantage at the light.
The third round paired John Peters up with one of our new racers Michael Cordani and John's consistency led him to the win. Steve had the daunting task of facing Dino on a hot streak and let him slip away at the light to put Dino into the semi finals. Mark Schroeder was also on a nice run when he gift wrapped a ticket to the semi's to Jeff Brohman by lighting the red lamp.
Jeff Brohman got the bye into the finals with a nice previous round RT. The other position was awaiting the outcome of the Dino Ramirez and John Peters race. John jumped on Dino at the starting line with a .052 light, but Dino caught him at the finish line by the slimmest of margins.
The final race pitted Dino Ramirez and Jeff Brohman. The guys both cut nearly identical lights, but Brohman's hopes of a win slipped away with his wheel spin at the line. Dino finished up the night with another nice trophy and finally got the monkey off his back and will be very tough in the upcoming challenge events.
Congratulate the drivers and discuss this race on www.corvetteforum.com.
