* 2007 Standings Stephen Davis Event #3 of 2007
02/17/07 -Race #3 of The Horse Power Sales was run last night at a very cold (by So. Florida standards) Moroso Motorsports Park. 22 cars showed up with a few new racers in the mix. Considering PINKS All Out was there with us, Team Moroso took good care of us (As ALWAYS) and we all enjoyed our night without breaking any cars.
The WIN went to Stephen Davis who cut a .195 light and ran an 11.71 on an 11.65 dial against Jeff Brohman who cut a .148 light and ran an 11.706 on an 11.59 dial. The winner and runner-up Horse Power Sales trophies were awarded and now have new top sections. Our trophies now have CORVETTES on them. Congratulations to both Winner and Runner-up on a great show. One Gonzalez & Sons Equipment, Inc plaque was given out last night (we had a bye into the semis) and that went to Rick Mortell.
Points are very different this year from years past, our racers are getting better and better each season and they are beating our reigning Champion into the ground. Jeff Brohman has a 22 point lead over Doug Masters and 41 points over 3rd place Rick Mortell. Dino (the 05, 06 Champ) has been going out first round at each race and is now sitting in 10Th place with only 40 points after the 3rd race of 2007. This is the furthest back that Dino has ever been during any of our previous seasons.
John Perez came out to beat on his new C6 ZO6. Very nice car and it actually broke the 13 second barrier on his second pass. LOL.... (Told ya I was writing that John). Rob Golobo was out with us again in his 03 ZO6 (thanks Rob, we appreciate you coming out) For those that do not know who Rob is, read a little about him here, http://competitionplus.com/2004_12_09/golobo.html.
The continuing driver feel good story of tonight was Neil Simon driving his 01 ZO6 and currently sitting 6th in the points. In years past Neil would come out make a pass, lose the round and then hang out and support us for the rest of the race. This season has seen a big difference for the KING of SHOW. He has committed himself to going rounds and for the 3rd race in a row he is going rounds. Neil went to round 3 where he was eliminated by tonight's runner-up Jeff Brohman.
Thanks to Roger and Jeremy Preston... of HORSE POWER SALES of Pompano Beach for their continued TITLE SPONSOR support of our series.
Thanks to Victor Gonzalez... of Gonzalez & Sons Equipment, inc. Who has come on as our newest ASSOCIATE SPONSOR and the cool new semi finalist plaques this allows us to give out.
Thanks to our friends at Moroso, for their continued support. Also for allowing us to have ton's of fun, in a safe environment.
We now get to you the racer, and the fan, THANK YOU for coming out and supporting each other. You are the reason why we have this series.
See you at the next race.
Bob
