First Time Winner Swiatek Closes on the Points Lead in Event 5

05/06/06 -

Tonight's Horse Power Sales Corvette Challenge @ Moroso Motorsports Park was a 31 car field and saw first time winner LARRY SWIATEK in his 97 A4 car, defeat STEVE DAVIS driving his ZO6 in the final round to take his first win of the season. Larry ran a 13.90 on a 13.85 dial to Steve's 12.17 on 12.10 dial. Number one qualifier tonight was James Scott. The big story.... Round one saw points leader Dino Ramirez defeated by Charlie Bosco when Dino went red. Round one also had number 2 in points, Bob Mancuso handed a first round loss when David Duttinger ran a 12.64 against Bob's losing 11.79 Apparently Bob fell asleep at the tree... AGAIN

Our 2 Pride Auto Body Semi Finalist plaques were awarded to, John Williamson driving his 95 C4 and Jeremy Preston running his 03 C5.

Paulette Glover is back, her husband Ed built a stout new small block for her 69. She came out of the box running mid 11's with the new mouse under the hood. Paulette went out early due to breaking out in a big way. Our other young lady, Georgia Dobbs was eliminated in round one when she went red while behind the wheel of her Lingenfelter 383. Two really fast women.

We welcomed 3 more new racers tonight as our series continues to grow via word of mouth and lots of advertising. I would like to thank our Title Sponsor Roger Preston, owner of Horse Power Sales of Pompano, for making this possible for us. I also want to thank Pride Auto Body for coming on board and giving us the ability to have semi finalist awards for the rest of the season. Of course I want to thank the Moroso facility, and their staff for allowing us to have so much fun and for taking care of us every month. On to you the racers... Each of you come out every month and make these events more and more competitive, memorable and fun. On behalf of Horse Power Sales of Pompano, Pride Auto Body, Moroso Motorsports Park, and the Corvette Challenge... a big THANKS TO EACH OF YOU.

I hope to see everyone out at the track on Saturday the 20th of May for the Battle of the Florida Corvette Challenges. I fully expect that TEAM MOROSO will represent well, by beating all challengers and keeping THE TROPHIES here with our Moroso Team.

Until our next event, stay well.
