Jamie Jamison Captures First win in Event 3
03/04/06 -
Event #3 of the
Horse Power Sales Corvette Challenge @ Moroso is in the books and what a great night of racing it was. Excellent weather and a 30 Corvette car count. Jamie Jamison took the win by beating John Perez in the finals. Jamie dialed a 12.82 and ran a 12.88 to Johns breakout of 11.38 on an 11.40 dial. Congratulations Jamie on a fantastic run tonight.
The shocker tonight was 2005 HPSCC Champion Dino Ramirez our points leader going out early. Dino was taken out when Paulette Glover put him on the trailer in round 2. Paulette ran her number (she was on all night) while Dino broke out. Paulette was eventually taken out by tonight’s winner Jamie in a round 3 loss by breakout. Man she was running tonight, way to go Paulette.

Second in the points Bob Mancuso was put out by Craig Gingerich in round 3. Craig ran a 13.16 on a 13.15 dial and Bob broke out running a 11.62 on an 11.66 dial. Craig runs the RevExtreme Corvette Challenge up in Bradenton as well as select races here at the Horse Power Sales Corvette Challenge.
Overall everyone had a SAFE fun night and we are looking forward to our next event on April 15th.
We had 2 visitors last night, our first was Ed Braswell who was testing his WORLD CHALLENGE car on the road course in preparation for the 12 hours of Sebring in 2 weeks. Ed decided to run both of his cars with us in tonight’s HPS Corvette Challenge. Those cars are bad fast and traction was an issue for him. Ed got the cars into the 11’s spinning the whole distance of the ¼ mile track. Ed and his crew were very friendly and out going. Round 1 had paired Ed in his World Challenge car against Paulette Glover driving her 69. Should of seen her face when I told her she was racing Ed. Priceless is an understatement. Paulette promptly placed Ed’s entry on the trailer. Both dialed 11.50 and Paulette ran on her number while Ed with no traction ran a 12.41.
Our second visitor was Mr. Doug Moroso who sought us out and thanked us for bringing “this wonderful” series to the Moroso facility. He was so impressed by the amount of fun we were having. Mr. Moroso said to me, look around see the happiness you bring to all these people….. Humbling is an understatement, that to me was better than if I was to win the event. Thanks Doug it’s my pleasure to be associated with all the competitors and staff. These truly are a fantastic bunch of men and women.
Many of us will be at the HPS Pepsi Chevy show on Sunday March 12th running the Corvette Shootout portion of the show. Feel free to come out and race or spectate, we certainly would love to see you all out there.
In closing I would like to thank you, the participant and spectators who come out and support us each and every month. As well as Roger from Horse Power Sales of Pompano. Roger is our sponsor who puts up the money to make this happen.
Congratulate the drivers on the Corvette Forum
Bob
